Benjamin Miller holds an MFA in poetry from Columbia University, and is now a PhD candidate in the English program at the CUNY Graduate Center. His dissertation is a “distant reading” study of roughly 3,000 dissertations written between 2001 and 2010 in composition and rhetoric, exploring research- and discourse-communities through keywords. Ben taught introductory and upper-level Writing-About-Writing courses at Hunter College from 2008-2012; currently, he works with students and faculty in the Macaulay Honors College as an Instructional Technology Fellow, finding ways to improve teaching and learning through digital (and other) tools.
“Majoring in meta” is how Ben’s wife has described his life and career. majoringinmeta.net is a place for Ben to post his occasional essays and musings. When he’s not posting here, you can look for him on Twitter at @benmiller314.
